About Lamma Island
Lamma Island got named Lamma only because of a chart reading error by Alexander Dalrymple in the 1760s. He had acquired a Portuguese chart to the entrances to the Pearl River and, close to the west of the island, the Portuguese owner had written "Lama". Dalrymple misinterpreted that as the name of the island.

Lamma has a significant Western and international population. The island has had a reputation for alternative lifestyles, hippies, and a relaxed attitude, but Lamma is being urbanized and property prices are on the increase, because of the attraction of this lifestyle.

Vision
A community is a social unit of any size that shares common values. It is a group of people who are connected by durable relations that extend beyond immediate genealogical ties, and who usually define that relationship as important to their social identity and practice.

As a designer and live in Hong Kong Islands District, I am particularly concerned about the connection between land issues and the community. And I hope on my community I live in to initiated an experimental community project, take this opportunity to rediscover the possibility to familiarize our community.
